Neutral Wireless CCO Dr Cameron Speirs today met with colleagues from Ofcom — including Sachin Jogia (CTO) and Gary Clemo (Director of Emerging Technology) — during a visit to the University of Strathclyde’s StrathSDR 5G research labs.
The StrathSDR team, led by Dr David Crawford, presented a review and demonstration on some recent projects with DCMS and the Scotland 5G Centre, including 5G New Thinking and 5GRailNext. Neutral Wireless was also able to attend alongside colleagues from the University of Glasgow (led by Professor Muhammad Imran), and Anne McLister (Director of Digital Economy at Glasgow City Council).
“Neutral Wireless continues to work closely with StrathSDR, and recently our 5G Network in a Box solution has been used in a number of high-profile collaborative projects, including the IBC’s ‘5G Remote Production… In the Middle of Nowhere‘. This project saw us deploy our 5G NIB networks in Kenya, New Zealand, Ireland, Denmark and the UK, where we successfully showcased end-to-end 5G-enabled media production with broadcasters and industry partners.
Dr. Cameron Speirs, Neutral Wireless (CCO)
“Our 5G NIB is a software defined radio, and so can operate in many bands. However, the n77 Ofcom shared band is now gaining traction for gNBs and UEs, and we can see other countries following Ofcom and the n77 shared band innovation for private (or non-public) 5G.”
Neutral Wireless look forward to maintaining an open dialogue with our colleagues at Ofcom as the momentum for shared-access spectrum applications continues to grow.
